Lessons learned and her journey to the PMP exam shared by the PM PrepCast student - Colleen Morrow, PMP.

"Never saw someone write so fast & actually pass!"

That was what the staff person at my Prometric testing centre told me yesterday when I passed my PMP exam. I wrote and passed with three proficients and two moderately proficients in just under two hours. Perhaps it was something she says to everyone but if it wasn't, I think it was due to buckling down and dedicating 10 weeks to preparing for my exam and using the PM PrepCast as my primary study tool.

I ordered my copy of PMBOK and two exam prep books on August 31. I purchased the PM PrepCast and Exam Simulator on September 1. By far, the most useful tools were the PrepCast and the Exam Simulator.

This gave me a high level understanding of everything. I think this was useful in providing a foundation to build on and help me understand from the very beginning how things fit together.
- After going through each of the intro videos, I turned to PMBOK and read it, making additional notes in purple. This was the only reading of PMBOK I did.
- Next, I went back and worked through each module, going through between 2 and 6 hours of videos each day (more on weekends, less on weekdays.) I made more notes in blue and would not hesitate to go back in the video to watch something again if I didn't quite follow. I watched the videos at home or at work and feel the visual was very useful. I would sometimes listen to the .00 videos in the car since I had already seen them. I also listened to the audio only files in the car...
