Got Questions? www.askaboutprojects.com needs your support.

www.askaboutprojects.com needs your support. On this website, anyone can ask questions on the topic of (obviously) project management. The service is moving to a new service and needs us to "commit". All that means is that you register and support this idea with a click.

Here is what Stephan Baranowski writes about this:

*AskAboutProjects *or its successor is an easy, low-threshold site for anybody with a question about Project Management, " for beginners and experts" ;-). I believe it brings more value than eg LinkedIn Answers, because good answers can be voted up by the community, not just by the person who asked the question. The best answers float to the top of the list, so its very user-friendly as well. People who provide good answers get "reputation points", which gives an additional indication of the value of an answer.

*AskAboutProjects *is hosted by a free service called *StackExchange*.com, a network of free, community-driven *Q&A* sites. It used to be just a few clicks from setting up an new Q&A site, but some months ago they've changed that into a longer process to ensure there is sufficient support for the new site. Also the existing sites, like AskAboutProjects, have to go through this procedure. I guess instead of just cutting away all the existing sites with little or no activity, they wanted to give everybody a fair chance.

This selection process is what they call '*Area51*', their 'staging zone' for new Q&A sites. There are 4 steps:

1. Get enough followers for the proposal
2. Design the site by supplying on-topic and off-topic questions, so people can understand what the site is all about
3. Have people commit to the site to ensure the community is large enough for the site to have a chance for survival; our new *Project Management*site is currently in this phase
4. a Beta or trial period

The only thing people have to do is register with an e-mail address and commit to the site here
